Obituary

A. Wayne Brown went to heaven on July 12, 2005. He was born January 6, 1928 in Van Alystne, Texas. Wayne and his wife, Kathleen, lived in Houston for many years and moved to Brenham in June 1996. Wayne served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Japan at the end of the war. While in Houston, he was employed at Roadway Express as their operations manager and he was also an independent home builder. He enjoyed working on his farm at Cat Springs for some twenty years, especially working with all of the animals and his dog, Spot. Since 1996 he has been employed by Wichita Ranch.

Wayne was a very kind, generous, and thoughtful man who was always ready to help those in need. He was baptized a Methodist and attended the First Baptist Church of Brenham. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kathleen Dalton Brown, three brothers-in-law, Jack Dalton of Arkansas, Dan Kananek of El Campo, and Robert Botkin of Houston. He also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Elvira Brown, very thoughtful nephew and his wife, Bob and Patti Lyon of Houston, nephew Mike Botkin as well as nieces and their husbands Jackie and Steve Ditsler, Carolyn and Gregg Johngarlo, Diana and John Esslinger, Shiela and Pete Guerrine, Aileen and Dan Dorotik, Janean Lyon, and Lorraine Flanagan, Carolsue and Jim Ciaberelli, as well as his very special companions, Sassy, Penny, Tinker Bell, and Garage Kitty.

We wish to express our gratitude to the owners of Wichita Ranch and all their employees; to Wayne’s caregivers, Catalena, Agustin, and Alma Flores and Maria Martinez. We also thank Virginia Vega and Ericka Perez for their support. We appreciate the services of Dr. Tan and the employees of Gambro Dialysis in Brenham and cardiologist Dr. Clement De Felice in Houston.
