Obituary
Abraham “Abe” Froese, age 98, of Carmine, Texas passed away Friday January 9, 2026 at 8:35 p.m. at Baylor, Scott & White Hospital in College Station, TX, with family and friends at his side.
Abe’s Mennonite grandparents migrated from the Ukrainian area of Russia to Kansas, in the mid-1870’s. Abe was born April 11, 1927, in rural Buhler, Kansas to John and Anna (Gaeddert) Froese. The family moved to San Benito, TX, in 1936, and he attended San Benito High School. In April 1944, during World War II, Abe enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served aboard the USS Towaliga AOG-42, a gasoline tanker transporting aviation fuel and diesel fuel to supply ships and remote stations in the Pacific Theater. He was credited with 23 months of sea duty during the war. His decorations include the World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal, and the American Area Campaign Medal. Upon returning home to Texas, He worked as a long-haul commercial truck driver and then as a certified aircraft mechanic for Braniff Air Line in Houston. He married his beloved wife, Euna Inmogene Dishough on July 28, 1952 and they were married 65 wonderful years at the time of her passing in 2018.
The couple purchased their farm in Carmine, Texas in 1958 and were weekend farmers for several years. Upon retirement, they moved to the farm full-time raising cattle, turkeys and geese, and baling hay. Abe and Inmogene enjoyed dancing with groups of friends, and traveling throughout South America, Asia and Europe, especially Germany. After Immogene’s death, Abe remained living on the farm with the help of neighbors Billie and Deloris Koehl and Brenda Mueller.
In addition to his wife, Abe was preceded in death by: parents, John and Anna Froese; three brothers Richard, Eldon and Howard; and three sisters Sylvia, Marna and Verna Jean.
He is survived by nephews and nieces: David and Carolyn Smith, Charles and DiAnn Richardson, Mike and Donna Langston, Wes and Carol Obermeier, Robert and Marie DeNeefe, Elizabeth Rossman, Dana Zauf, and Rhonda Williams.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 11:00 am in Brenham Memorial Chapel with Pastor Darrin Holub officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.
