  Albert Hartstack, 83, of Washington passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011.
 He was born in Brenham on June 30, 1928 to Albert W. Sr. and Gertrude (Striekert) Hartstack.  He was baptized November 25, 1928 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Brenham and confirmed April 18, 1943 at Friedens Church of Washington. He graduated from Navasota High School class of 1945 and received a B.S. and Master’s Degree in Agriculture Engineering from Texas A&M University. Upon graduation, he received a commission as a second lieutenant in the Army and served in the army reserves for the next 10 years, being discharged as captain. On May 15, 1949 he married  Evelyn “Puddin” Bosse at Friedens Church of Washington. Albert worked for the Soil Conservation Service in Central Texas. Returning to Washington County, he worked in College Station as a cotton pest researcher for the US Agricultural Research Service and traveled the world. He retired after 30 years of service. He also was a farmer and rancher, raising Hereford cattle. His memberships included: Friedens Church of Washington UCC, where he had served on council; Brenham ISD board of trustees; Washington County Fair Association where he showed and served in administration and as president; Washington County Genealogical Society; Graham Lodge #20, 50 year member and Master Mason; served on board for Farmer’s Mutual Insurance and Farm Bureau.
 
 Survivors include: his loving wife of 61 years, Evelyn “Puddin” Hartstack; children and their spouses, Lin and Gerry Hartstack, Gary and Bonnie Hartstack, Sue and James Vierus all of Washington; grandchildren, Misti and Josh Corn, Leland and Trisha Hartstack, Cori and Brian Herzog, Brooke and Jared Jensen, Erin Hartstack, Luke Vierus, Sarah Vierus, John Vierus; great-grandchildren Will and Jackson Corn, Hudson and Hayden Hartstack, Blake and Hailey Herzog, Paige and Madison Jensen; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Wallace and Bernice Bosse of Washington, Gene and Linda Bosse of Ingram and Clint and Sandra Bosse of Washington; numerous nieces and nephews.
 
 Visitation will be Saturday, August 20th  from 6-8 pm at Brenham Memorial Chapel.
 
 Funeral service will be Sunday, August 21st  at 2 p.m. at Friedens Church of Washington with Mr. Greg Felder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
 
 Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
