Obituary

Allen Stepan, 90 of Brenham, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 27th from 4-6 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Monday October 28th at 10 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church with Pastors Mark Groves and Walt Schindehette officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery with military honors.

Allen John Stepan was born June 23, 1929 in Bleiblerville, Texas to John and Lillie (Maresh) Stepan. He was baptized September 8, 1929 and confirmed August 15, 1943 both at Nelsonville Brethren Church. He was a 1946 graduate of Monaville High School. He served in the US Army from 1951 to 1956. On November 8, 1953, he was married to Dorothy Jean Meyer at Salem Lutheran Church by Rev. R. J. Weber. Allen was employed by Crown Central Petroleum in Pasadena, Texas and Arco Chemical in Channelview, Texas. Later he worked at Lawrence Marshall in Hempstead and Allied Ace Hardware in Brenham.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, where he was involved in Men’s Group. Other memberships included: Monaville Volunteer Fire Department, where he had served as treasurer and American Legion Buddy Wright Post #48. Allen enjoyed playing cards and dominoes, gardening and deer hunting.

Allen was preceded in death by parents; parents-in-law Fritz and Hildegard Meyer; son Doug Stepan; brothers and sister-in-law John Alfred Stepan, Clarence and Glen Stepan, David R. Stepan; sisters in-law and brother-in-law Billie Joyce Stepan, Doris and Seth House; niece Diana Stepan.

Surviving loving family includes; wife Dorothy “Jeanie” Stepan; daughter Sherry Kruger and husband Darrell; daughter-in-law Diana Cone Stepan; brothers and sisters-in-law Daniel Stepan, Roy and Eunice Stepan, Billy and Kathy Stepan, Sue Stepan, Donald and Martha Stepan; sisters and brothers-in-law Betty and Herman Hoff, Lillie and Delbert Schultz; grandchildren Kristy and Brett Veith, Bradley and Kim Winters, Chad and Rhonda Kruger, Kellan Kruger, Mitchell and Rush Stepan, Candace Stepan, Clint Stepan and special friend Crystal Januhowski; 9 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
