Obituary

Allyne Rodenbeck Buro, age 92 of Brenham, passed away Friday, October 16, 2021.

Allyne Rodenbeck was born March 11, 1929 in the Cedar Hill Community of Washington County to parents Arthur and Elsie (Broecker) Rodenbeck. She was baptized May 12, 1929 by Rev. Julius Bosshard at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill, where she remained a lifelong member. She was confirmed June 20, 1943 by Rev. John Striebe.

Allyne attended Cedar Hill and Hohenwalde schools. On October 18, 1947, Allyne was married to Lenord Paul Buro by Rev. William Feller. The couple moved to Houston. Allyne began work at National Biscuit Company, which then became Nabisco. They soon returned to Washington County. Allyne was a homemaker and also worked at Faske’s Jewelry. She gardened and enjoyed baking for her family. Allyne was known for her delicious apple pie, cookies and coffee cake. She and her brother Butch’s families enjoyed many holidays together. She would prepare the Thanksgiving feast. Allyne remained active, volunteering at her church and at Gay Hill Volunteer Fire Department fundraisers.

Allyne was preceded in death by: parents; husband; sister-in-law, Elouise Rodenbeck; nephew Ray Rodenbeck; and also brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Walter and Elsie Buro, Alvin and Bernice Buro, Arthur Buro and Alvera Buro Drews, Laura and Norbert Kramer.

Surviving family includes: son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Tammy Buro; grandchildren, Kelci and Mike Adams, Natalie and Jason Meekins, Michael and Gracie Buro; great grandchildren, Hudson, Nolan and Emry Adams, Grady and Elliott Meekins, and a sixth great grandchild due in April; brother, Walter “Butch” Rodenbeck; along with numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 19th from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 20th at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill with Pastor Skip Stutts officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Mike Adams, Jason Meekins, Michael Buro, and Ryan Rodenbeck. Honorary pallbearer will be Roger Winkelmann.

Memorials are suggested to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill or Gay Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
