Obituary
Alton Lumon Gasaway, 76, husband of Betty Gasaway died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at College Station Medical Center. Alton was born, December 23, 1932 in Van Cleave, Mississippi to Roy and Essie Gasaway. Alton served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He was united in marriage to Betty Wood on May 14, 1966.
His family was very important to him. He enjoyed cooking and loved gardening. Alton was a volunteer at Festival Hill. He loved his animals and loved living in the country. His favorite saying was "It's a beautiful day in the country."
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack Gasaway; sisters, Maxine Porter, Marie Whitehead and Ora Lee Gasaway.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Gasaway; daughters and sons-in-law, Stacy and Phillip Keys and Dellanie and Javier Garcia; son and daughter in-law, Stephen and Nicole Gasaway; grandchildren, Katie Keys-Gonzales, Michael Keys, Matthew Garcia, Nicole Garcia, Gretchen Gasaway and Penelope Gasaway; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lonnie and Patsy Gasaway and Louie and Martha Gail Gasaway.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 30th from 5 to 7 pm at Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 1st at 10 am at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham with Rev. Lawrence Bade officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Burton.
