Obituary

Alvin Klussmann’s life journey ended August 6, 2007 at the age of 91. He passed away peacefully in the presence of his family after a brief illness. He was “Tudy Boy” to his family as you would hear him whistling before you would see him. His daily morning walks along Academy Street were missed by all those who saw and waved at him as they drove by. He loved to barbeque for his family and could be found at the Legion or V.F.W. with his friends doing what he enjoyed most. He was a friend to many and will be missed by all who knew him.

His journey began May 29, 1916 first born of nine children to Martin and Henrietta Boenker Klussmann. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in William Penn. He served his country during World War II as a Sergeant with Company B 327th Medical Battalion 102nd Infantry Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for “heroic achievement in Germany”. Later he served as Commander for the James F. Dillon Post No. 7104 of the V.F.W.

On May 10, 1947, he married Regina “Jean” Skweres at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with the Rev. C. J. Appel officiating. Their marriage was blest with three children, Linda, LaVerne and Jimmy. He worked for Southern Geophysical and Dayton Exploration, Walters Dairy, mowed highway right-of-ways for Washington County, then retired and worked part-time with Schlottmann Oil Co. Alvin was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents, son Alvin James “Jimmy” on October 5,1986, brother Glenn Klussmann, sister Nathalie “”Thalie” Glaesmann, mother-in-law Annie Skweres, father-in-law John Skweres, brothers-in-law Henry Skweres, Bob Colburn, Herbert Glaesmann, Sr., Erwin Glaesmann, Sr., James Cox and nephews Richard “Ricky” Dannhaus, Erwin Glaesmann, Jr. and his little dog Teroy.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years Regina “Jean” Klussmann, daughters Linda Joyce Wellmann and Ann LaVerne Klussmann; grandchildren Jeffrey Wellmann and Renea Wellmann, Wendy Jasinski and fiancé Jason Ashorn; great-grandchildren Dylan Blackman, Brice Wellmann, Brett Wellmann, Braden Wellmann, Halle Mae Wellmann, Sabra Jasinski and Brianna Jasinski of Brenham; sisters and brothers-in-law Leona Cox of North Highlands, CA, Amanda Glaesmann of Brenham, Emma Colburn of Arlington, TX, Evelyn and Delbert Muery of Gay Hill, TX, Ollie and Alvin Dannhaus of Burleson, TX, Joyce and Bill Thomas of Boerne, TX, Mike Skweres and special friend Cecilia Fisk of Brenham, Jo Pennington of Pflugerville, numerous nieces, nephews and their families; special friends Freddie and Linda K. Wellmann, Rufus Gross and Vernetta Evans.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2007 in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 9, 2007 in Grace Lutheran Church with Pastors Matthew Jacobs and William H. Holzer officiating and Dr. Henry J. Boehm as organist. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be H. R. Williams, Brian Colburn, Rod Robinson, Michael Dannhaus, Dugan Klussmann and Duncan Klussmann.
