Alvin Krause, Jr.

Alvin Krause, Jr., age 80 of Houston, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021.

Alvin Krause, Jr. was born July 29, 1940 in Brenham to Alvin and Hermine Huebner Krause. He was a graduate of Austin High School in Houston. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and his master’s degree for Sam Houston State University.
He served in the US Navy during Vietnam. He served as a radio operator aboard the USS Hancock.

On October 18, 1986, Alvin married Sonja Howks. She preceded him in death March 12, 2005.

Alvin was an educator and teacher. He was involved with Boys and Girls Club, Sylvan Learning Center and Harris County Juvenile Justice System.

His memberships included: Channelview Church of Christ, Kiwanis Club International, and working with the Harris County Sheriff’s Department.

Alvin is preceded in death by parents, wife, and sister Virginia Whittemore.

Surviving family includes: sister Kay Schmidt and husband Fredy of League City; nieces Lura Stevens of Carrizo Springs and Charlotte Hose of Cypress; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Services with military honors will be held Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Houston National Cemetery.
