Obituary

Angelie (Meyer) Goeke 91 passed away at her home Friday, May 10, 2019.

Visitation with the family will be 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., Sunday, May 12, 2019, at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Monday, May 13 at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church of New Wehdem with Rev. Lawrence Bade officiating. Burial will follow at Germania Cemetery.

Angelie was born November 8, 1927, at the home of her parents Walter Gus and Lony (Oevermann) Meyer in the Needville Community of Fort Bend County, Texas. She was baptized at home by Rev. J. R. Vilt on December 11, 1927. She was confirmed at Immanuel Evangelical Church of Needville on November 3, 1940, by Rev. Wm. E. Scholze. Angelie was a graduate of Richmond High School and Southwestern Business University. She worked as a nanny and then as a bookkeeper in a Houston cardiology clinic.

At a dance at Artesian Park, Angelie met the love of her life, Waldo Bernhard Goeke. They were married October 19, 1947 at Immanuel Evangelical Church in Needville by Rev. Wm. E. Scholze. Angelie loved being outdoors, fishing and helping family on the ranch with cattle and hay. She gardened and canned vegetables and fruit. She enjoyed quilting, baking and playing cards and dominoes. Angelie was known for her bunny cookies and chocolate pies.

Angelie was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church of New Wehdem. Here she was involved in Ladies Circle.

Surviving loving family includes: son, Charles Goeke and wife Vickie; son-in-law, Curtis Buck and wife Sonja; grandchildren, Landon Buck and girlfriend Elizabeth Gunn, Brandon and Courtney Goeke, Brianne and Troy Addicks, Marissa and Cliff Rudloff, Brooke and Russell Schrader, Brandt and Cari Goeke; great-grandchildren, Ella, Ava, and Emma Goeke, Aiden and Ethan Addicks, Dawson and Hailey Rudloff, Mackenzie and Sawyer Schrader, Colin and Emmie Goeke; sister-in-law, Bernice Meyer.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Kathryn (Goeke) Buck, and brother Irvin Meyer.

Pallbearers will be Landon Buck, Brandon Goeke, Troy Addicks, Cliff Rudloff, Russell Schrader, Brandt Goeke, Thomas Hruska, Robert Kolkhorst.

Honorary pallbearer will be Maria Zuniga, Angelie’s close friend and faithful caregiver.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice Brazos Valley or St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church of New Wehdem.
