Obituary

Margaret Anne Miller, age 77, passed away on December 8, 2020 surrounded by family and friends. Anne was born on June 14, 1943 in Houston, Texas to C. Neil Johnson, Jr. and Margaret Elizabeth (Taft) Johnson.

Anne attended elementary school in Harlingen, Texas and graduated from Jefferson High School in San Antonio. She continued her education at Sul Ross University where she was a member of the women’s golf team. At the tender age of 5, Anne realized her passion for horses and all things western. Her two most beloved horses were Duck and Taco. Anne loved Western pleasure, rodeos, and ranch work. She was also a longtime committee member for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. For fun in the past several years she could be found enjoying a good game of Texas Hold ‘Em. Anne worked for the city of Bay City, Texas and then spent most of her career as a real estate agent and appraiser.

Anne will be most remembered as a strong willed woman who charted her own path and did it all her way. She was proud to have been a lifelong Texan and enjoyed the history, charm, wildflowers, views, and people of Washington County.

Anne is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, C. Neil Johnson, III. She is survived by her children, Deborah Rhodes and her husband Robert, and Daniel Miller, II and his wife Melissa; her grandchildren, Philip Dane Rider and his wife Jacqueline, Daniel Miller, III, and Ellen Miller-Smith; and her great-grandchildren, Ophelia and Hadley. Also left to cherish her memory are her sister; Gail Simmons and her husband Ricky, her best friend of 73 years, Paula Loesch Wedegartner, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private graveside service for Anne will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 2:00pm in The Masonic Cemetery located in Chappell Hill. Memorial donations may be made to Brazos Valley Hospice, Camp for All’s horse program or any charity of your choice.
