Obituary

Arthur Charles “A.C.” Miller, Jr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. A.C. was born on February 22, 1927 to Dr. Arthur Charles and Sadie Mae (Knolle) Miller in Carmine, Texas. He was baptized and confirmed at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine, Texas. On September 11, 1954, he married Lucille Eichler at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham, Texas.

A.C. graduated from La Grange High School in 1944 and entered Baylor University for one year. He then served in the U.S. Navy as an operating room assistant at several naval hospitals. Returning to Baylor, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1949. In 1953, he graduated from the University of Texas with a pharmacy degree and became a licensed pharmacist.

A.C. started his career as a pharmacist for 5 years at Medical Arts. He then opened Miller’s Prescription Pharmacy located in the Schoenvogel Clinic and was the owner for 29 years. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brenham where he served on the church council and building committee. He was also a Rotary Club officer, Paul Harris Fellow, Brenham Wholesale Grocery Co. Director, American Legion planning and zoning committee and other community organizations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Dr. Arthur and Sadie Mae Miller, his father and mother-in-law, Martin and Leonie Eichler, brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Lavern Miller, nephew Roger Miller, brother-in-law Culver Turlington and great nephew John Hanson.

A.C. is survived by his loving wife Lucille of 67 years; son and daughter-in-law Stephen and Carolyn Miller and daughter Marianne Wilson; grandsons Austin Miller, Travis Wilson and wife Tarah and Conner Wilson and fiancé Alyssa Williams; granddaughter Allison and husband Brad Trochta and great granddaughters Caroline and Lillian Trochta; brother and sister-in-law Dr. Elwood and Sue Eichler, sister-in-law Jane Turlington; nieces Karen Hale, Cherie (Tony) Hanson, Kathy (Terry) Schneider, Sara (Ray) Browning; nephews Martin Eichler, David (Shera) Eichler, Dan (Shari) Eichler, Scott Turlington and numerous other relatives and friends.

A.C. treasured his family and friends and embraced every moment with them. The joys of his life were being a proud grandfather, enjoying the outdoors at his Carmine farm and sharing family genealogy.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, March 11 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel. There will be a private family graveside service at Prairie Lea Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Christian Day School or your charity of choice.
