Obituary

Atemsa Rosemarie Menn Poehlmann, 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2008 in Brenham.

She was born on May 5, 1913 to Herman and Marie (Schwartz) Menn in Yorktown, TX. She was baptized on September 7, 1913 and confirmed April 1923 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Yorktown. She graduated from Texas Lutheran College, where she was in the TLC choir and where she met her husband. On June 3, 1936 she was married to Waldemar C. (W.C.) Poehlmann in Yorktown, TX. Five children were born to this union: Rosemarie, W.C. Poehlmann, Jr., David, Mark, and Luther. She was a loving, endearing wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She served as organist in several churches that her husband pastored. Music was her passion. She gave music lessons, sang and played the piano at weddings, and enjoyed being in the church choirs.

She was preceded in death by parents, husband Rev. W.C. Poehlmann, son W.C. Poehlmann, Jr., son-in-law Robert Blackwell, Jr., grandson Major Chris Blackwell, brothers Hubert Menn and Leonard Menn.

She is survived by children: Rosemarie Blackwell of Euless, TX, David Poehlmann, Mark Poehlmann and wife Donna, Luther Poehlmann and wife Helen Frances all of Brenham, and daughter-in-law Virginia Clifton of Crosby; 14 grandchildren: Robert Blackwell, Jr., Karen Phelps; W.C. Poehlmann III (Trá), Mia Poehlmann; Leah Goymer, Dr. Sean Koon, Chelsea Poehlmann; Neil, Derek, and Tyler Poehlmann; Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John Poehlmann; and 9 great grandchildren.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, October 28 at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine with Rev. Rich Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
