Obituary

Barbara Lou Perkins Moran, 88 of Brenham and the wife of Robert “Bob” Moran, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, free of pain and suffering following a recent fall. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 25th at 2 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kay Reed officiating.

Barbara was born in San Antonio, Texas to Whitlow King Perkins and Mildred Lee Murray Perkins (named after General Lee, of course) on December 22, 1924. She did missionary work from 1953 to 1958, working in literature and radio work under the Latin America Mission in San Jose, Costa Rica and Radio Station HCJB, Voice of the Andes, in Quita, Ecuador. She later, was a bilingual secretary and confidential clerk for the United Fruit Company in Santa Marta, Colombia. Here she met and on April 13, 1960 married Robert Paul Moran. After living in Houston, they moved to Brenham in 1972. Barbara worked at the Brenham Clinic, retiring in 1989.

Barbara was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Brenham and active in United Methodist Women. She enjoyed traveling, family gatherings, and playing cards especially with her Bridge Friends.

She was preceded in death by parents and sister, Dorothy Perkins Swanson.

Survivors include: her best friend and husband of over 50 years, Robert “Bob” Moran; sons that she was so proud of, Michael Kevin Moran and Robert Edward “Bobby” Moran both of Houston; sister Anne Donaldson and husband Richard of Sugarland; special niece, Patty Baker of Summerville, South Carolina; as well as other nieces and nephews, Janet Lovell, Charlotte Swanson, Diane Price, Kay Anselmo, Steve Donaldson, Danny Donaldson; great nieces and nephews; cousins; many friends, especially Kathleen Flick, Juanita Hickey, Frances Scheffer.

In lieu of flowers and food, the family suggests donations to Salvation Army in Barbara’s memory.
