Obituary

Barbara Cloud (“Baba”) of Chappell Hill died peacefully in her sleep on April 23, 2019, in New Braunfels, Texas.

Barbara was born Barbara Dean Padgett on January 28, 1936, in Mexia, Texas. During her childhood she lived in Mexia and in Pasadena, Texas. She graduated from Pasadena High School in 1953. She married Leonard Cloud in 1954.

After high school graduation she worked for Shell Oil in Deer Park, then for the Pasadena Independent School District for 33 years. Upon retiring and moving to Chappell Hill, she volunteered her time with the George H. W. Bush Museum in College Station. Barbara was a very talented artist, and she possessed an amazingly creative ability.

Throughout her life she lived in Mexia, Pasadena, Houston, and in Chappell Hill.

She is preceded in death by her husband Leonard, and her parents Joe B. Padgett and Lee Padgett.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Jay and Debra Cloud, by grandson Travis Cloud, granddaughter Jennifer Cloud, great-granddaughter Jade, and great-grandson Elliott. She is also survived by her cousins Sylvia Tackitt Pace, Lisa French Ephlin, Chuck French, and Leeland Tackitt.

It would be remiss to not acknowledge she had numerous friends and former coworkers who also survive her.

She will be buried in the Masonic Cemetery in Chappell Hill. There will be a graveside service on Saturday May 4, at 2:00 PM, her son Jay will be presiding. Viewing will take place from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm, also on Saturday, May 4, at Brenham Memorial Chapel.
