Obituary

Benjamin (Ben) Alfons Hajovsky, 89, of Brenham, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2018.

Ben was born in Holman, Texas on November 20, 1928, to Adolph Sr. and Antonia (Muzny) Hajovsky, the eleventh of thirteen children. He graduated from LaGrange High School. Ben served his country as a member of the 7th Calvary L Company of the US Army during the Korean War, where he attained the rank of Sergeant. After the Korean War, he moved to Brenham and opened the Western Auto store downtown. On September 4, 1955, Ben married Louise Murski at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a loyal loving husband for 62 years.

Ben loved being a businessman and always was looking to make a good and fair deal. He owned the Western Auto store until his retirement in 1994. Ben was active in the community, participating in the Brenham Evening Lions Club, Sons of Hermann, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Ben was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he served in various capacities throughout the years. Ben was also a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of K.J.T. - The Catholic Union of Texas.

Ben was a kind and gentle person. Throughout his life, Ben enjoyed fishing, playing cards and dominoes with friends and family, and always, having a good laugh. His grand-children and great grand-children brought him special joy.

Ben leaves a large, loving family including his wife Louise; children and spouses: Wayne and Eileen Hajovsky, Deborah and David Vesling, Laura Hajovsky, Sally and Stephen Ludwig, John and Michelle Hajovsky; grandchildren: Joel and Paula Hajovsky, Sarah and Gabriel McCoy, Leigh and Cody Goings, Ethan Vesling, Anne Hajovsky, Ava Vesling, Kyra Hajovsky, Ben Ludwig, and Cade Hajovsky; great-grandchildren: Jude Hajovsky and Elle Hajovsky; sister: Henrietta Neiser; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Anna Mae Hajovsky, JoAnn Hajovsky, Gene and Carol Murski and Dolores Haynes; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Ben is preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Bernard Hajovsky, and older brothers, George, Adolph Jr., Albert, Jim, Charlie, Joe, Frank, and Edmund; sisters, Marie Ryza and Leona Kristek; and parents-in-law, Max and Martha Murski.

Pallbearers will be a number of his nephews. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Brenham Evening Lions Club. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Praise Choir, Hospice Brazos Valley, or the Brenham Evening Lions Club.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 7, 2018, from 5 – 7 p.m., with rosary recited at 7 p.m., at Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer St., Brenham, TX 77833. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, February 8, 2018, at 2 p.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rev. Vincent Romuald SRC will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
