Obituary

Bernice Borchardt Eickhoff, 84 of Brenham, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012 in Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born December 10, 1927 to Herman and Minnie (Reddehase) Borchardt in Washington County, Texas. She was baptized February 5, 1928 and confirmed September 21, 1941 by Rev. Fred Mgebroff both at Zion Lutheran Church. On June 26, 1947, she was united in marriage to Wilbert W. Eickhoff at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Fred Mgebroff officiating. Bernice worked as a seamstress for Brenham Upholstery and Trim and Sealy Mattress Company. She enjoyed fishing, dancing and gambling.

She was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; father-in-law and mothers-in-law, Robert and Lillie Eickhoff, Selma Eickhoff; brother, Franklin Borchardt; sisters and brother-in-law, Elouise Rodenbeck, Adeline and Alvin “Pete” Studhalter; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lydia and Melvin Draehn, Willie Mae and Harold Wehmeyer; and special nephew Billy Dannhaus.

Her loving family includes: daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Larry Kieke, Janie and Derrell Krebs; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Betty Eickhoff all of Brenham; grandchildren, Chris Herzog of Houston, Wendy and Brian Horak of Brenham, Joey and Stacy Eickhoff of Katy, Jenny and Mike Marchetti of Cypress, Ashley and Josh Sulik of Cypress, Chance and Johanna Wilkerson of Brenham, Neil and Dora Krebs of College Station, Kelsey and Kyle Toomey of College Station; great-granddaughters, Brianna Renee Horak, Madison Elizabeth Eickhoff, Jordyn Elizabeth Marchetti, Talyn Presley Sulik; brother and sisters-in-law, Herman Jr. and Elverna Borchardt, Florence Borchardt; brother-in-law, Walter “Butch” Rodenbeck; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the Eickhoff family will be Tuesday January 31st from 5-7 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 1st at 2 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville with Rev. Jim Abbott officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ray Rodenbeck, Don Lee Studhalter, Rob Winkelmann, Richard O’Malley, Billy Grimm, Jerry Kieke, Ron Mertz, Donald Lange. The family would like to recognize as honorary pallbearers Glenver and Frances Eilers, Burney and Earline Boecker, Leon and Floradell Boecker, Edwin and Edna Weiss, Melvin and Charlyn Krause, Onis and Verlyn Finke, Alvin and Ruth Free, Nancy Krause, as well as the staff of Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church or your charity of choice.
