Bettty Jane Ullrich

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Jane Ullrich, who entered into eternal rest on July 18, 2026, at the age of 85. Betty was born on January 1, 1941, in Bellville, Texas, to Frank and Ester Surovik. She was baptized and confirmed in Nelsonville Brethren Church.

Betty was a proud graduate of Bellville High School and later earned her Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) certification from Blinn College in Brenham, Texas. Throughout her life, she devoted herself to caring for others, both professionally and personally. She worked at Brentex Mills, Boehne Hospital, and Brenham Rest Home before becoming the manager of Carlinda Ranch Assisted Living, where her compassion and dedication positively impacted countless lives.

Her greatest calling was serving others. Betty lovingly cared for her son and opened her heart and home as a foster parent to 26 children, offering love, stability, and hope to those who needed it most. Her generous spirit extended into her community, where she helped organize Camp For All and Higher Ground Mountain High, touching many lives through her volunteer service.

A faithful member of Industry Brethren Church, Betty was also previously active in the Wesley Brethren Christian Sisters Women group. Her faith guided her life and inspired her unwavering kindness, humility, and willingness to serve others.

Betty found joy in life's simple blessings. She loved sewing and quilting, preserving the harvest by canning fruits and vegetables, tending to her chickens, and embracing the peaceful rhythm of country life. She shared a special bond with her beloved cat, Lucy, and faithfully looked forward to watching her favorite television show, Big Brother. These everyday pleasures reflected the contentment and gratitude that characterized her life.

Betty will be remembered for her caring heart, gentle spirit, and selfless devotion to her family, friends, and community. Her legacy is one of compassion, faith, and unconditional love, a legacy that will continue to live on in the many lives she touched.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to her devoted caregiver, Keith, whose kindness and compassionate care brought comfort during Betty's final journey. They also wish to express their sincere appreciation to Hospice Brazos Valley for the exceptional care, dignity, and support they provided to Betty and her family.

Betty's memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her love, faith, and example of service will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.

Betty is survived by her companion Lynwood Ullrich; children Melissa and husband Stephen Foerster, Lynwood Dale Ullrich, Paula Ullrich, and stepdaughter Susan (Michael) Suggs; siblings Frank (Darlene) Surovik, Daniel Surovik, Marie Surovik, Theresa (Mike) Ehlert; other family members Katherine (Vernon) Wellmann, Birdie (James) Kristoff, Ernest (Martha) Ullrich, Jacob (June) Ullrich, Tonetta (James) Schlemmer, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Ester Sebesta Surovik; sister-in-law Christine (Edward) Buscha, Aliene (Fritz) Finke.

Betty was an advocate for Ella Mae Wehmeyer, Emily Hajek, and Tommy Humphrey in which she made sure that they had the opportunity to attend church and go other places as well.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice Brazos Valley.
