Obituary

Betty Jane Davis Sessums, 86, of Brenham, Texas, passed away on July 24, 2018.

Betty was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, to parents John Sylvester and Madeline (Brooks) Davis on October 23, 1931. She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri until the family moved to Houston, Texas, where she graduated from Lamar High School with a 4.0 GPA at the age of 16. After high school, she attended and graduated from business school in Houston. She spent many years working as a dental assistant and office manager.

Betty was very talented in many creative pursuits. Her skills included porcelain painting, gardening, and doll making. She enjoyed her involvement in gardening and painting groups. Above all she cherished time spent with family and always looked forward to visits and family camping trips. Betty was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by son, John Sessums and wife Charlotte; daughter, Martha Knox and husband Larry; daughter, Leslie Witt and husband Bill (Buff); daughter, Teresa Sessums Bollin and husband Calvin; her grandchildren, Timothy Sessums and wife Erica, April Sessums, Stephen Sessums, Carolynn Knox, Susan Knox, Rebekah Plumb and husband Billy, Mary Saavedra and husband Roberto, Ruth Knox, Rudy Martinez and wife Erika, Lenny Martinez and wife Melissa, Raymond Martinez and wife Amanda, Trevor Witt, Violet Jung, David Rittenhouse, Michael Rittenhouse, Tiffany Rittenhouse, and Brittany Wunschel; her great-grandchildren, Hunter Sessums, Leila Sessums, Jakob Sessums, Veronica Knox, Natalie Knox, Kaden Hernandez, Karen Martinez, Krista Martinez, Abigail Martinez, Alexander Martinez, Lillian Martinez, Lilah Martinez, Thomas (TJ) Jung, and Elaine Jung. Also survived by her beloved sister, Carol Layne.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents and one son, Cecil Robert Sessums.

Visitation will be 9:00 am until the funeral service begins at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1400 Niebuhr Street, Brenham, Texas, 77833.

Graveside service and internment for close family only will follow at 2:00 pm at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, Texas, 77077.
