Obituary

Betty Lou (Barrett) Boeker, 78, passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston, TX surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, March 10th, 2018.

Betty was born July 30th, 1939 to Halbert and Lucille (Reinhardt) Barrett of the Raccoon Bend community of Austin County. She attended school in Bellville, TX. On June 8th, 1957, she married the love of her life, Barkley “B.Y.” Boeker. Betty and B.Y. were faithful members of Grace Lutheran Church and they raised their family in Brenham. Betty ran a daycare out of her home for 27 years and adored children. Betty was known as everybody’s “Nana”. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a doting grandmother and her grandchildren were the light of her world. B.Y. and Betty took annual trips to see the Grand Ole Opry and vacations to Branson, Missouri and to Canada. Betty was a wonderful cook and loved to watch cooking shows- specifically Pioneer Woman- to gather new recipes. Betty was an avid fan of the Houston Astros, westerns, and a faithful follower of The Young and the Restless.

Betty is survived by her husband of sixty years, Barkley “B.Y.” Boeker; daughters and sons-in-law, Kim Beach Phillips (Neil), Charlotte Daily (David), Luanne Rybarski (Greg); grandchildren, Caitlin Beach, Chad (Michelle) Bilski, Shane (Lindsay) O’Neal, Emily Rybarski, and Madalyn Rybarski; great-grandchildren, Cash, Aubrey, and Harper; sister, Carol Brandt (Fred), brother, Michael Barrett, sister-in-law, Dorine Stoelke; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Halbert and Lucille Barrett, step-mother, Joanna Barrett; brother, Robbie Barrett; and parents-in-law, Henry and Lydia Boeker.

Pallbearers will be Greg Rybarski, Shane O’Neal, Randy Bader, Kenny Bader, David Daily, and Michael Barrett.

A visitation will be held from 5:00- 7:00 pm Wednesday, March 14th at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 15th, 2018, at 10:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church. Pastor Mathew Jacobs will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery.
