Bettye Lew Reue, 82 of Brenham passed away Saturday, August 11, 2012 in Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born May 28, 1930 in Cleburne, Texas to Emmett and Elizabeth “Bettye” (Eaton) Norton. On April 16, 1960, she married William “Billy” Reue in Temple, Texas.
Bettye Lew was a homemaker, great cook and master seamstress. She made all of her daughter’s Maifest costumes and most of their clothing as young girls. She typed all of her husband’s field notes until he joined Pledger, Reue & Associates in 1981.
Her memberships included: Fortnightly Club, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, where she played the piano and organ, was involved in Altar Guild, and did much of their needlepoint work. She loved her volunteer work with the Girl Scouts and chaperoned many band trips with the Brenham High School Band.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and cousin Lynne Ireland Mitchell.
Surviving loving family includes: daughters and son-in-law, Mary Elizabeth and Dennis Benton of Houston, Katherine Lynne Berdofe of Austin; grandchildren, Elizabeth Mae Benton, Allison Rose Benton, Grayson Reue Berdofe, Ethan Reue Berdofe; cousins, Lynda Ireland Graeber and daughters, Jack “Butch” Eaton Ireland, M.D. and sons.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 14th from 5-7 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, August 15th at 10 a.m. in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church with Rev. David Ottsen officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church or Hospice Brazos Valley.
