Obituary

Beverly Burt, age 90 of Brenham, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2019.

Visitation will be Friday, June 21 from 5-7 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 22 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Bobbie Maltas officiating. Private graveside will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery. A reception at church will follow graveside.

Beverly Christen Burt was born October 2, 1928 in Cypress, Texas to William and Norine Mae (Thompson) Christen. She was a graduate of Cy-Fair High School. Beverly married Waldo Francis Burt on May 1, 1948 in Houston. She and her husband, who served in the Air Force, lived in many areas of the U.S. as well as in foreign countries before the family finally settling in Brenham in 1968. Besides being a wife and mother, Beverly worked as a secretary at Brenham Junior High for many years.

Beverly had a bright uplifting spirit that touched so many lives. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Brenham. Beverly was a member of Bosom Buddies. She assembled and delivered care packages to those with breast cancer. She was a school mentor and volunteered with Washington County Historical Society. Beverly visited nursing homes, spreading God’s love and her positive attitude.

She was preceded in death by her husband Waldo and daughters Susan Evans and Linda Key.

Surviving loving family includes: daughter Stephanie McGlothlin and husband Steven; grandchildren and their spouses, John Michael and Tammy Evans, Amy and Jeremy Hurry, Brittany Key and Jaret Selman, James Key, III, Scott and Kari McGlothlin, Michael and Rebecca McGlothlin; great grandchildren, Steven Tyler Ragsdale, Kelsey Hurry, Michael Garrett Evans, Kourtney Hurry, Jared McGlothlin, Blake McGlothlin, Josh Belfield; numerous nephews, nieces and friends.

Pallbearers will be John Michael Evans, James Key III, Michael Garrett Evans, Jeremy Hurry and Jaret Selman.

Memorials are requested to the Waldo F. Burt Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Blinn College Foundation.
