Obituary

Beverly Duree was born Beverly Ann Watson on April 8, 1932, in Brenham, Texas, to Rita and Bevo Watson. After spending the day with friends and family, she passed away peacefully on May 5, 2023, with her son Tim and his wife Sandra by her side.

Beverly was raised in Waxahachie, Texas, with her brother and best friend, David. As a child of a Methodist preacher, Beverly and her family moved several times throughout her childhood to serve various churches throughout Texas. She graduated from Timpson High School in 1949. Beverly attended Lon Morris College where she met the love of her life, Sam Duree. After one month of dating, Beverly and Sam were married on January 28, 1951. Beverly truly lived a life of service and faithfulness. She spent her days raising her three children: Nona, Samuel (Sam), and Dwight (Tim), and supporting her husband. As a pastor’s wife, Beverly was always involved in the church, volunteering and working wherever she was needed. She also served with her husband traveling to Mexico, Haiti, Jamaica, Burundi, Zimbabwe, Belize, Costa Rica, and Siberia for mission work. Throughout her whole life, Beverly made an impact on everyone she came in contact with. She was incredibly generous, always willing lend a helping hand and listening ear. Her grace, love, strength, and kindness were contagious. Beverly loved to dance and sing. As a devout Christian we know she is now dancing around heaven with her husband Sam, having the ultimate celebration.

Beverly is survived by her daughter Nona Taylor, her husband Brooks, their son Matt, his wife Sara and their son Nate; son Samuel, his wife Sharon, their daughter Kelbi, her husband Jonah and their children Maesyn and Silas, Sharon’s daughter Delaina Childree and her sons Byron and Kagan, Samuel’s son Jeremy, his wife Mayra and Jeremy’s son George; son Tim, his wife Sandra, their son Tad, his wife Samia, and their children Zarina and Idris, and their daughter Lindsey and her husband Jarrett and their children Everly and Leo; her brother David Watson, and her nieces and nephews whom she adored.

In peaceful resting she joins her husband Samuel, her father Bevo, her mother Rita, her sister-in-law Bernice Watson, nephew David Watson, and many close relatives and loved ones.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mont Belvieu Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center and the amazing team at Traditions Hospice for their compassionate care and support. Our heartfelt appreciation also goes to Loretta Digges and Terri and Raven Armstrong for their kindness, love, and friendship.

A private family graveside service will be held on the morning of Friday, May 12, 2023. The celebration of life will begin at 3:00 at Cedar Bayou Grace 3700 N. Highway 146, Baytown, TX 77520 with a reception to follow.
