Obituary

Billy Glenn Warburton was born on August 19, 1930 in Mart, Texas, to Minnie Lee Howard and Thomas Marsden Warburton. After the death of his father, Billy and his mother moved to Waco, Texas, where he graduated from Waco High School.

Billy attended Baylor University on a basketball scholarship. While attending chapel, where students sat in alphabetical order, Billy met Kathryn Wallace, who was seated beside him. They were later married at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Houston.

Billy and Kathryn began their family in 1953 with the birth of their first daughter, Linda. Ellen followed in 1955, twins Susan and Glenn in 1957, and Greg in 1960.

Billy began his professional career as a salesman for Brance Krachy Company in Houston, Texas. He traveled throughout Houston calling on clients and taking orders for machine parts. Billy was a successful salesman because of his warm and outgoing personality. He genuinely enjoyed getting to know his clients and asking about their families. He loved his work and the people he met throughout his career, taking great pride in what he did each day. His strong work ethic, loyalty, and ability to connect with others made him not only successful, but someone people truly enjoyed knowing. His dedication to Brance Krachy Company was unmatched, and he retired after 66 years of service.

Billy loved music and singing. He often encouraged his five children to sing together and dreamed of them becoming a group like The Jackson 5. Many evenings were spent singing along with Mitch Miller, and family car rides were filled with old folk songs. Every summer, the family took a two-week camping trip, eventually visiting every state west of the Mississippi River. They also enjoyed many trips to the beach together.

Later in life, Billy met Dianne Andrus on a blind date. The two were together for 43 wonderful years. Billy married Dianne and became a loving father to her two young children, Patrick and Bronwyn Andrus.

Billy faithfully lived out his Christian faith through his lifelong dedication to the Church of the Epiphany. The church was more than just a place of worship to him, it was his church family. He attended every Sunday and remained actively involved throughout his life. He served as a member of the vestry, Senior Warden, LEM, LEV, EYC sponsor, sang in the folk choir, and faithfully attended Bible study. Billy deeply valued the friendships, fellowship, and sense of community he found within the church.

Billy was an avid reader whose favorite authors included C. S. Lewis and James Lee Burke. He was also a prolific letter writer who regularly wrote to family and friends about random subjects, sharing fun facts, thoughtful questions, and stories from his own experiences.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dianne Warburton; his daughter Ellen Vaughn; his son Patrick Andrus; his daughter Bronwyn Seay; and his grandson, Warren Vaughn.

He is survived by his children: Linda Warburton, Glenn Warburton and wife Wanda,
Susan Pritchard Warburton; Greg Warburton and wife Kathy.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Brad Pritchard and wife Amber; Megan Pritchard and Derek; Stacy Pritchard; Keith Pritchard; Jessica Kremm and husband Justin; Katie Zajicek and husband Nick; Kelly Zarytsky and husband Adam; and Jordan Seay.

His surviving great-grandchildren include Fallon Vaughn, Benjamin and Gracie Zajicek, Tommy and Katherine Kremm, Elliott Zarytsky, Mila Langley, and Autumn Pritchard.

His great-great-grandchildren include Athena and Luna.

Bill's beliefs about his life are expressed in these words by Grantland Rice: "When the one Great Scorer comes to put a mark against your name, he writes not that you won or lost but how you played the game. I played it the best I could, through the grace of God."

A celebration of Billy's life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Epiphany in Houston, 9600 S. Gessner Road, Houston, Texas 77071.
