Obituary

Blanche Kolajajak, 92, of Chappell Hill, passed away on September 12, 2020.

Visitation will be held at Brenham Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, September 16, from 10:00 am until rosary is recited at 7:00 pm. The family will be present from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

Funeral Mass will be Thursday, September 17, at 10:00 am in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Father Jozef Musiol, SDS, JCD, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery.

Blanche was born on February 17, 1928, in Chappell Hill to parents Joe and Frances (Nowak) Jozwiak. She grew up on the family farm with her brother and three sisters. She had many vivid memories of growing up in the country, helping to pick cotton and pecans, and walking with her siblings to attend the nearby Wonder Hill School.

On April 22, 1950, she was united in marriage to Charlie Joe “C.J.” Kolajajak. They made their home in Chappell Hill. C.J. was Blanche’s whole world. They spent 68 years on their farm, in the home that C.J. built. Throughout the years, the couple worked hard running the farm, but also enjoyed time off to take trips for gambling or reunite with C.J.’s old Army buddies. C.J. preceded her in death in 2018.

Blanche was a lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Prior to her passing, she was the oldest member. Blanche was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. Stanislaus. She was a devoted catholic and faithfully attended mass.

Blanche was a strong and independent woman, but was also generous with her care and affection to her loved ones. She was absolutely adored her great-grandchildren. “Meme” spoiled them with hugs, kisses, and candy they weren’t really supposed to have. Blanche was a wonderful cook and baked incredible desserts to share with friends, family, and at church functions. She was also talented and creative when creating craft pieces – embroidery, cross-stitch, and quilts.

Surviving loving family includes: daughter Brenda McFarland and husband David D.; grandson David Lucian McFarland II and wife Tonya; granddaughter Heather McFarland; great-grandchildren, Kasi Lynn, Kaleb Lane, Madelyn Grace, Isabella Mae; nieces and nephews Annette Pomilla, Evelyn Weeks, Shirley Kaucher (husband Richard), Jerry Dorcz (wife Betty), nephew/godson Billy Joe Skweres (wife Sue); sisters-in-law, Angie Huddleston Menzel, Ella Januhowski; and many other loving cousins and kinfolks.

Blanche is preceded in death by her beloved husband C.J.; parents; siblings Esther Skweres, Clara Dorcz, Florian Jozwiak, Valeria Pomilla; nephews Donald Gene Skweres and Tommy Dorcz; and other loved ones she missed dearly.

Pallbearers will be David Lucian McFarland II, Billy Joe Skweres, Jerry Dorcz, Richard Kaucher, Jason Kaucher, and J.J. Jozwiak. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kasi Gayle, Kaleb McFarland, Madelyn McFarland, and Isabella Lowe.

If you’d like to make a contribution in memory of Blanche please consider a donation to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.

Blanche’s declining health after C.J.’s passing has made for two difficult years. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the friends, family, church and community members, medical staff, and everyone else that reached out and gave their support, love, and care. In particular, they want to recognize Patsy Jozwiak, Irene Janecek and her husband Bobby; nurse Angel Mathis; and Rachel Harris and her care team at Peach Creek Assisted Living Center, where Blanche spent her final weeks. Your contributions have made this difficult time so much easier.
