Obituary

Bryan C. Miller, Jr. passed away Monday March 8, 2004 in Brenham TX.

Bryan was born December 21, 1927 to Bryan C. Miller and Kate Padgitt Miller in Waco, Texas. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1948 with degrees in Business and Textile Engineering. He played football during his tenure at Tech. In 1948 he married Kathryn Parrish Miller who passed away in 1967. On January 16, 1971 he married Martha “Sissy” Harris in Dallas.

Mr. Miller spent his working life as an executive in the textile manufacturing industry. Among his many accomplishments in this field was as a board member of the prestigious American Textile Manufacturers Institute. He along with three others purchased Brentex Mills in 1986. After retiring as President and Chairman of Brentex Mills Inc. in 1994, Mr. Miller continued an active schedule of volunteer work, including most recently as President of the Washington County Boys and Girls Club in 2002 – 2003. There he played a leading role in the 1.5 million dollar fund-raising endeavor for a new Boys and Girls Club Facility, now under construction. He was also involved with Trinity Services Foundation Board, fund-raising for new emergency room facilities; Habitat for Humanity, Children’s Chorus, the Unity Theater and was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. The Washington County Chamber of Commerce recently honored him as “Man of the Year”.

Mr. Miller is survived by his wife of 33 years Martha “Sissy” Harris Miller, two sons, Bryan C. Miller, III and Blake P. Miller; two step-sons, Charles H. McMordie and Frank F. McMordie, III; and six grandchildren Maren Miller, Cameron Miller, Kathryn Miller, Cotton Miller, Tiffany McMordie and Frank McMordie.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday March 12, 2004 in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church of Brenham with Rev. Cecilia Smith officiating.

Honorary pallbearers include Hugh Pitts, Allen Commander, Jim Ellison, Bill Anger, Mike Shoup, Jim Moore, Victor “Bubba” Brier, J.W. Jankowski, Otto Hanak, Earl Pearson, Bob Wilson, Ed Duckworth, Ran Newman, Dexter Morris, Terry Jones and Charles Keese.
