Carl Martin

Carl Martin, 79 of Brenham, passed away September 3, 2023.

Carl was born January 8, 1944 in San Marcos, Texas to Carl and Edna (Rose) Martin. As a youth his family moved to San Antonio. Here he graduated from high school, was involved as a ham radio operator, and enjoyed working as an automotive mechanic. Carl received a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University. Here he also met the love of his life, Joyce Shuey. They married and shortly after, Carl joined the Army Signal Corps. The couple lived in the Panama Canal Zone for two years, where troops were trained for service during the Vietnam Era.

Upon discharge from the Army, Carl was employed by Texaco in Houston. Later, he worked with FBD Frozen Beverage Dispenser. For 20 years, Carl and Joyce made their home in rural Washington County. He enjoyed woodworking and blacksmithing.

Carl was preceded in death by: his parents and sister Sandra Turner. Surviving family includes: wife of 57 years Joyce Martin and sons Michael Martin and Charles Martin.
