Obituary

Carol Lynn Voelkel, 67 of Brenham and Houston, passed away September 10, 2011.

Carol Lynn was born April 22, 1944 in Brenham to Travis “Dutch” and Evelyn (Beaumier) Voelkel. She was baptized September 17, 1944 and confirmed March 22, 1959 both in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Brenham. Carol Lynn was a graduate of Brenham High School 1962 and Blinn College, attended Baylor University and Texas A&M University, and received Bachelor of Arts Degree from Texas Tech University. She was employed by Braniff Airlines as a stewardess for 16 years. Later, she managed rental properties in Houston. She obtained her real estate license.

Carol Lynn took special pride in being involved as a Junior and Senior Maifest Queen; Brenham High School Band twirler and drum major; Texas Tech twirler; and the Houston Auto Club.

She loved animals, especially horses, her dogs and cat as well as collecting antiques and driving her antique cars in parades and car shows, where she won numerous awards and distinctions.

She was preceded in death by: parents; brother Travis Voelkel, Jr.; aunt and uncles Alexa Banker Voelkel, Kermit Voelkel, Albert Earl Voelkel, Mary Beaumier Hendrix, Doris Beaumier Moore.

Loving family includes: sister-in-law, Salha Voelkel of Brenham; nephews and their wives, Major Tyson and Christi Voelkel of Friendswood, 1st Lieutenant (Ret) Beau Voelkel of Brenham, Major Trevor and Sara Voelkel of Kuwait; great nieces and nephew Eliana and Lily Voelkel, Olivia and Liam Voelkel; aunt Minnie May Sunday; cousins Margaret Moore, Bailey Moore, Timothy Sunday, Jim Sunday, Hayden Kayden Sunday, Carol Ann Voelkel, and Bill Voelkel.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday, September 15th from 5-7 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 16th at 2 p.m. in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Brenham with Rev. Phil Fenton officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Tyson Voelkel, Beau Voelkel, Pat Keeling, Gary Marburger, Cecil Miles and Kenneth Sugg, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Trevor Voelkel, Dr. Wilfred Dietrich, Herbert Hughes, Otto Lehrmann, and Bailey Moore
