Carolyn Jane (Hites) Daniels

Carolyn Jane (Hites) Daniels, 84, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026.

Carolyn was born on March 29, 1942, in New Brighton, Pennsylvania, to Leonard Leroy Hites and Vannie Kathryn (Wickline) Hites. Carolyn worked in healthcare for most of her life. Even after retirement, she remained a caregiver at heart, dedicating much of her time to helping family and caring for loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Arnold "Dan" George Daniels; her son, Richard Daniels; her sister, Diane Quast, and her parents, Leonard and Vannie Hites. Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Linda (Daniels) Strohbehn; her son, Michael Daniels; six grandchildren, Shanna Grisaffi, Caitlin Mueller, Courtlandt Strohbehn, Catherine Strohbehn, Phoebe Strohbehn, and Philip Strohbehn III; and ten great-grandchildren.

Carolyn never met a stranger. She had a gift for making friends wherever she went and genuinely enjoyed getting to know people. She was fond of her neighbors, treasured her friendships, and especially valued the companionship of her dear friend, Debbie Keen.

She found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved classic black-and-white movies, especially those starring Jimmy Stewart. She enjoyed a good cup of Constant Comment tea and cherished good music. Animals also held a special place in her heart, and she shared her life with many beloved dogs and cats over the years, loving each one unconditionally. Riding on the back of Dan’s Harley was one of her favorite pastimes, and she treasured the years they spent together. After Dan’s passing in 2024, Carolyn was never quite the same. She missed him dearly and carried that loss with her every day.

Carolyn was a kind, caring, and practical woman who spent much of her life helping others. She was known for saying things as they were and always being willing to lend a hand when someone needed help. Whether caring for patients, family, friends, or the many pets she loved throughout her life, she brought kindness and a steady presence to those around her.

Those who loved Carolyn take comfort in knowing she is once again with her beloved husband, Dan.
