Carrie (Elias) Marsh - Guestbook

I loved Carrie so much, I decided to sign her guestbook twice....my apologies. A silly goy like myself was never supposed to have a Bubbie, but I beat the odds. Carrie Marsh was my great friend, who helped me immensely 4 years ago when times were tough. She treated me like one of her very own. She cracked me up on so many occasions....every time I'd go to her house, she would open the door, jerk her thumb towards the inside, and say, "The coast is clear, get in quick!" If ever there was an example of how to live life well, Carrie was it. I miss her immensely. As I said before, the world is a sorrier place without her in it.

I'm sorry to say I only recently learned that Carrie is gone. It's selfish of me, but I wish I could visit with her now, just one more time. She was a beautiful, beautiful person, and the world is a much poorer place without her in it.

I just learned about your mother and I am so sorry. Our moms were such good friends for so long. I so loved the times I have seen her in the last few years she was always so fun to talk to. My whole life she could always make me laugh. She was such a joy to know and I will miss her.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Carrie. What a lovely, caring true lady. I have always treasured my friendship with her and your Dad and the many kindnesses they extended to my Grandparents, Mom and Pop John and to my Mother. It was always comforting all those years that Carrie and Abe were across the street neighbors from our cafe. Words are of little comfort, I know, but memories...all of them...will see you all thru this and sustain you in the years to come.

To France's and family,
I LOVED your mother!! She was our scout leader in high school when no one else would take us! She made going to scouts fun, when being a Girl Scout wasn't popular! She always laughed at my jokes and my Barbra Streisand imitation! She was kind hearted and loving and motherly and a very good listener to all of our high school trials and tribulations! I will always remember her inspirations on how we succeeded in graduating as Girl Scouts. My deepest thoughts and prayers are with France's and her sisters. May God's perpetual light shine on Carrie now and forever more!

I was so blessed to have this lady as my Brownie and Girl Scout leader of Troop 13. She taught us so many things that are part of my life. God has given her those "golden" wings.

Your mother was such an inspiration. I met her years ago through Girl Scouts. I enjoyed listening to her stories about Girl Scouts. I was there when she received her Award from the Girl Scouts. Woman of Distinction award. Remember all the wonderful stories of her. Remember all the good times.

Frances and family...so many childhood memories of this beautiful lady! Whether it be at their store/shop or in the kitchen of her home, her grace and kindness was always there. The last time I saw her I told her that I remembered the liver pate that she made for me and frances as a sleep over snack. I told her it was the best I have ever had. She told me that she would share the recipe. Didn't see her again to get the recipe but I will remember her in so many other ways! She was a jewel. Peace and comfort prayers for your family.

Dear Patricia, Barbara and Frances,

I am so sad to hear about the passing of your wonderful mother. As your house on Tom Green was kitty-corner to ours I got to know your mom and dad and of course all of you. She taught me about fruit fried pies and Chinese food and all things New York. She was a gracious and loving lady. Marsh's Department Store was a wonderful place because of the care of your mom and dad. I have so many wonderful memories as many have already shared about your mom. May you have peace.

Pat, Barbara and Frances,

We're certain the heavenly poker bunch has been holding her place for her. Here's to the most spirited women we all called "Aunt Carrie."

Dear Barbara and family,

A great lady has left us. Your mom was one of the greatest role models I have ever known. She will be greatly missed by not only her family but by all who knew her. But, she will always be with you and with us - we can always find her in our hearts.

I am so sorry I cannot be there on Sunday to say good-bye in person. I just this morning find out about her passing. Just know that my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. May she rest in peace.

I remember Carey and I taking Mrs. Marsh, Nancy Atkinson and my aunt, Alma Eve Hodde to an Astros baseball game. I don’t remember whether the Astros won or lost that day, but we all had a great time at the ballpark. Mrs. Marsh was a wonderful lady, and it was always a pleasure to see her.

To the family and life long friends of Carrie Marsh, Please accept my deepest condolences...

ALLOW

Close your eyes, cover your ears and listen with your heart.
Your memory of a loved one's whisper will float into your realm as gently as an autumn leaf of gold...
Quiet your inner being so you only hear the drifting of the leaf and the secret message it delivers.
Allow the leaf to touch your cheek as a gently as a light kiss so as not to startle you, but to cause you to smile.
Listen with your soul to the whispers and vows of love from a beautiful time gone by and now extended to you here.
Smile that you allow yourself to welcome sweet memories within you for it is you and you alone who can make this allowance.

Oh how many happy memories of times spent with this wonderful woman. My voice lessons began with her urging my mother to get lessons for me. I am indebted to her for a wonderful career and life as a vocal music professional. What a wonderful inspiration. I remember her most for her fabulous sense of humor. I will miss her. Love to you girls and your families.

Mrs. Marsh was one of my favorite people in Brenham. She always brightened my day with her quick wit and humorous outlook on life. I am forever grateful that she took in our senior girl scout troop (consisting of only two members by that time) so we could camp out at Happy Hollow with her troop our last year of scouts .She came to John's visitation in April and I was so honored by her presence and touched by her words of comfort to me. She was a wonderful and great lady and I will always remember her. My sincere sympathies to all of you.

Marsh family: What a beautiful legacy your mother has left. She was always involved in community events and never turned down a request to participate in any endeavor. She was blessed with an insatiable hunger for knowledge and that hunger greatly benefited the community. When I think of Carrie, the thought that comes to mind is, "LITTLE BUT MIGHTY"! We are ALL better people for having known her!
