Obituary

Charles F. Schubert, 91 of Brenham, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 17th at 5 p.m. until rosary is recited at 7 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 18th at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers and his granddaughters will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Charles Fritz Schubert was born March 16, 1927 in Lyons, Texas to Charles E. and Ella (Schoppe) Schubert. He attended Lyons public schools. During World War II, he was drafted into the Army serving in France and Germany. Upon returning home, he attended GI Cabinet Construction School.

On April 23, 1949, Charles was united in marriage to Angela Janet Zientek at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. In 1958, he established Schubert’s Sheet Metal Work’s. His sons Charles Lane and Mark worked with him in the family business. He retired in 2000. Charles Lane purchased the business and it continues today under the Schubert name.

Charles’ zest for life and positive, joyful attitude transferred to everyone he met. He had a strong, selfless compassion for his family and others, and, was well respected in his industry and community. He and Angie enjoyed dancing and were members of the Top Cat Dance Club. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed playing card games with his family and friends. Charles was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and served in many capacities including Lay Eucharist Minister. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus; always willing to lend a hand on committees and cooking crews and was especially proud of attaining the rank of Fourth Degree Knight. He was also a member of the American Legion Buddy Wright Post 48 and the VFW of Brenham.

Proceeded in death by: parents, wife, infant son, great grandson Charles Trip Schubert, brothers Emil Schubert and Alton Schubert, sister Velma Rathjen.

Loving family includes: children and their spouses, Charles Lane and Pam Schubert, Bob and Patsy Schubert, Mark Schubert and Dottie Stoddard, Kathy Schubert Randermann, Kimberly and Michael Williams; grandchildren and spouses, Jennifer and Scot Mertz, Brad and Mandy Schubert, Kevin and Heather Schubert, Leighton and Brittany Schubert, Leigha Schubert, Abigail and Matt Gore, Chad Schubert, Shannon Stoddard, Orry and Cortney Randermann, Rinn and Whitney Randermann, Jackson Williams, Harris Williams; great grandchildren, Caleb, Zachary and Hannah Mertz, Mila and Grey Schubert, Holden and Harper Schubert, Analeise Gautreaux, Declan Schubert, Tristan, Tanner and Tatum Gore, Chad, Jr., Ethan and Peyton Schubert, Kolin Stoddard, Charlie Randermann, Madelyn and Brinnlee Randermann; brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Evelyn Schubert.
