Obituary

Charles James Konieczny, age 77, of Brenham, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the Brazos Valley Hospice Inpatient Facility in Bryan, Texas.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., with Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 16, 2019 in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 17 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Brenham with Fr. Jay Polisetty as Main Celebrant and Msgr. Benedict Zientek as Con-Celebrant. Burial will follow at Welcome Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Charles was born March 6, 1942 to parents Stanley and Helen (Bilski) Konieczny in the Wesley community and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and Wesley School. He married Darlene Vierus on May 10, 1986 and was in the ranching business his entire life. He also worked for Pomykal Drilling Company and Pegasus Ranch. He enjoyed taking care of his cattle and always took great pride in the appearance of his farm. He looked forward to watching his grandson play football and baseball for the Burton Panthers. Charles was a member of St. Mary’s where he received all sacraments and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Loving family who survives are: wife Darlene; daughter Kaci; son by choice Chad Weiss and daughter-in-law Kacey; grandson Cade Weiss; sisters Annie Rybarski, Genevieve Rybarski, Louise Bolcerek (Albin); brother-in-law and sister-in-law Larry and Marion Vierus along with numerous nieces, nephews and fur babies Annie Belle and Yodi.

Preceding him in death were his parents, in-laws Wilbert and Elsie Vierus, brothers and sister-in-law Edward and Dorothy Konieczny, John Konieczny and Frank Konieczny, brothers-in-law Albert Rybarski and Marion Rybarski.

Pallbearers are David Barbosa, Marcus Bender, Ben Bolcerek, Charles Jankowiak, Doyle Krause, Robert Rybarski, Blake Shedd, and Cade Weiss.

Honorary Pallbearers are Mary and O.S.(Dub)Andras, Glenna Gertson, and all family and coworkers of Pegasus Ranch and the former Pomykal Drilling Company.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley.
