Obituary

Charlie C. “Dutch” Schulze, 89, of Brenham, and formerly LaGrange, Georgia, passed away peacefully in his sleep at Kruse Village on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.

Dutch was born on June 11, 1933, to Reinhardt and Wilma (Ziesemer) Schulze in Prairie Hill Community, Washington County, Texas. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. He attended Rocky Hill and Prairie Hill Schools and was a 1951 graduate of Brenham High School. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army. After his military service, he worked in the structural steel building industry for 53 years, retiring in Customer Service.

His hobbies included fishing, raising pigeons and game birds, sports, gardening, and collecting antique clocks. He loved dancing and listening to country music, especially Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, and he enjoyed good German polka music.

Dutch was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Earline Brockermeyer and husband Floyd, brother Floyd "Jack" Schulze and wife Beth Frances (Conner) Schulze, nephew Allen Wayne Brockermeyer and niece Linda Brockermeyer along with special friend Mary Waldrop.

He is survived by his son Charles Ray Schulze and wife Mondisa, son Dennis Wayne Schulze and wife Donna; the mother of his sons, Maudine Nevill; 4 grandchildren, Bubba, Mary, BJ and wife Andrea, and Leslie; two great grandchildren, Kash and Madalynn; along with, the Debbie and Shane Morris family from La Grange Georgia; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

The Schulze family would like to thank the staff at Kruse Village and the caregivers from Amedisys Hospice Care for the personal attention given and the genuine respect shown to their father.

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 12, at the Brenham Memorial Chapel and his Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Norm Sulaica, Jr. officiating. Inurnment will be at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given in his name to St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, or to Amedisys Hospice Care, Bellville, Texas.
