Obituary
Charlie Ellermann, Jr., 85, of Bayou Vista, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013 at Memorial Herman-Memorial City Hospital in Houston. Charlie will lie in state from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Thursday, November 14. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 15 both at Brenham Memorial Chapel with Pastor Kris Brower officiating. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Lutheran Church Cemetery of Sandy Hill.
Charlie was born October 31, 1928 in the Sandy Hill Community of Washington County, Texas to Alma (Stegmann) and Charlie Ellermann, Sr. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith. He was a Brenham High School graduate and served in the U.S. Army. He married Melva Stephens on January 31, 1959 in Brenham. Charlie worked as a hunting and fishing specialist for Oshman’s Sporting Goods for over 30 years.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Melva; daughter Sharon Chandler, husband John and their children Brandon and Cole; son Charles Ellermann, wife Holly and their children Peyton and Charles, Jr.; son Gary Ellermann, wife Rose Ann and their children Alexis Rose and Leah Nicole; sisters Eloise Wehring, Virginia Fischer, Sandra Becker and husband Ralph; brother-in-law John Mangum. Charlie is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be sons, Charles Ellermann and Gary Ellermann; son-in-law, John Chandler; grandson, Cole Chandler; brothers-in-law, Ralph Becker and John Mangum; nephews, Michael Wehring, Darrell Fischer, Troy Becker, Mark Homeyer, and Jonathan Mize. Junior pallbearers are grandson, Charles Ellermann, Jr. and great-nephew, Cullen Homeyer.
