Chester P. Bilski

Chester P. Bilski, 91 of Brenham, passed away Monday, June 13, 2005 at the VA Hospital in Waco. He was born June 17, 1913 in Chappell Hill, TX to Peter and Hedwig (Hibel) Bilski. He graduated from Brenham High School and Blinn College. On January 22, 1947 he was married to Theresa Bartniski in St. Mary’s Catholic Church by Msgr. Charles Weisnerowski. Mr. Bilski proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1940 – 1945 as a dental technician. Upon returning home, he worked on the family farm and at Brenham Ice House. Chester farmed in the Chappell Hill area while employed at Daniel Industries in Houston for many years and from where he retired in the late 1960’s. Chester was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph Council #3287 and the Buddy Wright Post #48 of the American Legion both in Brenham and the Czech Catholic Union of Texas, The K.J.T. of LaGrange.

Preceded in death are his parents, daughter Frances Fitts, 5 sisters and 2 brothers.

Surviving family include: wife Theresa Bilski of Brenham; sons and daughters-in-law Mark and Linda Bilski of Chappell Hill, John and Susie Bilski of Brenham; daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Mark Whittaker of Humble; 6 grandchildren Brooke and Kass Copelin of Lubbock, Bridget Bilski of Brenham, Bryant Whittaker of Minot, North Dakota, Aric Whittaker of Humble, Nicholas Bilski of Dallas and Jenny Bilski of Brenham; 2 great-granddaughters Madison and Paytra Whittaker along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at Brenham Memorial Chapel from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. when the Rosary will be recited by the Knights of Columbus.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 16, 2005 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Brenham with Father William Bartniski, as Celebrant assisted by Father David Ivey, Msgr. Benedict Zientek and Msgr. Bennie Mazurkiewicz. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Frank Bilski, Jr., Julian “Butch” Bilski, E. J. Bilski, Marion Marshall, Kass Copelin, Nicholas Bilski, Bryant Whittaker and Aric Whittaker.

Honorary pallbearers are Clarence Reuter, Larry Cegelski, Charles Ogrodowicz, Bruno Wazin, Ken Wage, Robert Grabarawitz.
