Obituary

Clara Hermann, 90, of Brenham passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2008 in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

Clara was born November 3, 1917 to William Rosner and Louise Schmitt Rosner in rural Austin County. She was baptized and confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem and attended public schools in Austin County. On December 2, 1936 she was united in marriage to Richard Hermann by Rev. Arthur Hartmann in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She spent many years as a housewife, gardening, canning, cooking wonderful meals and baking homemade bread and coffee cakes. She also worked at Schulze’s Bakery and South Market Cleaners for a number of years. After retirement, she enjoyed many years of babysitting. Clara was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Her parents, husband, brothers Joe, John, Dick and Louis Rosner and sisters Mary Koester, Annie Hess, Martha Sommerfeld and Sophie Rosner preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughter Joyce Meads and husband Billy of College Station; grandsons Justin, Jeff, and Jeremy and wife Misty; great-grandchildren Madelynn and Jordan Meads; sister-in-law Flora Rosner. Clara was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, August 15, 2008 in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 16 in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham with Rev. Lawrence Bade and Rev. Erich Schaefer officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Erwin Meier, Keith Meier, Howard Sommerfeld, Alvin Hanath, Robert Preuss, Jr. and David Hermann.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Our Savior Lutheran Church in College Station.
