Obituary

Clara Murski Warchesik, 91 of Brenham passed away August 18, 2026 at her home surrounded by family.

Clara was born May 24, 1935 in Brenham to parents Wallace and Mary Zientek Murski. She was the youngest of 10 children. Clara was a hard worker growing up on the family farm, where she picked cotton. She learned to tend a garden, cook and can its bounty. Clara’s pear pies and preserves were family favorites.

She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she was baptized and confirmed. Clara married Vick Warchesik and they made their home in Brenham. Clara worked at Duke & Ayers, Perry Brothers (department store) and Simon Theater. She was very reliable and dependable. Clara also loved babysitting at private homes and at day care facilities.

She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She served on the Alter Society.

After her loving husband of 40 years died in 1994 at the age of 65, she became the “Boss of the Family”. Clara enjoyed visits to Colorado to see her daughter Mary Ann and family. She also enjoyed shopping at J.C. Penny. Crossword puzzles kept her mind sharp.

Clara was preceded in death by: husband Vick, 10 siblings and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Her loving family includes: daughter, Virginia “Jenny” Warchesik of Brenham, daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann Cottingham and husband Robert and their children Aaron Cottingham and Zachary Cottingham of Rollings, Wyoming and son, Michael Warchesik of Brenham, her loving pets Benji and Bandit.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 25, 2026 from 10am until 7pm. Rosary will be recited at 7pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 10am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials are requested to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Brenham Animal Services and Adoption Center, and Hospice Brazos Valley.
