Obituary
Clarence Roy Martin, 94, of Brenham passed away March 9, 2026.
Clarence was born February 10, 1932 in Houston, Texas to Adam and Helen (Weber) Martin. He was born the second oldest of 8 children where they grew up on the family farm on the Southeast side of Houston. Clarence graduated from St. Thomas High School in Houston in 1952. Shortly after he joined the maintenance and plumbing department at Rice University, where he worked for 37 years before retiring. His talented hands could turn even the simplest creations into something remarkable. He met Nora Bastian while on a bowling league. They married on June 1, 1957 at St Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Houston. Together they were blessed with 62 years of marriage.
Clarence retired in 1994 and moved to Brenham to live the more peaceful life. He and Nora loved dancing and playing dominoes and cards with their friends. They enjoyed traveling together on bus tours and cruises, visiting all 50 states and several countries in Europe. Clarence had a passion for photography and always carried his camera in his pocket, ready to capture life’s special moments. Clarence was known for his friendly greetings and often began conversations with “You’ve been behaving?” or “How you be?”
Preceding Clarence in death are wife Nora; parents; brothers Raymond, Al, Richard, Frank; sisters Pat and Joan; grandsons Karl and Kurt Grahmann.
Clarence is survived by daughters Beverly and husband Melvin Dierschke of Sealy, Valerie and husband Chuck Grahmann of Victoria; grandchildren Laura Dierschke (Sr. Amata Filia), Karen (Dierschke) and husband Edward Morin, Ross Grahmann and Rachel Grahmann; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Grayson Morin; sister Jane Wilkins; sisters-in-laws Carol Martin, Noreta Martin, Delores Martin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Rosary will be recited at 10:00am on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 701 Church St. Brenham, TX 77833 Following at 10:30am will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Edwin Kagoo officiating. Interment will be New Ulm Cemetery in New Ulm, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers are Curtis Kulow, Daryl Kulow, John Case, Glen Martin, Edward Morin and Levi Trejo. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
