Obituary

Clifford Van Henze, age 58 of Brenham, passed away Friday, January 24, 2020 in College Station, Texas.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 28, 2020 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. also at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Clifford was born September 29, 1961 in Brenham to Nelvin “Nelda” (Shelton) and Leroy “Pete” Henze. He was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Brenham. Clifford was a graduate of Brenham High School. Clifford went to work for the Brenham Banner-Press delivering the paper on his bicycle at the age of 13. When he turned 16, he went to work in the plant and continued to work at the Brenham Banner-Press for over 45 years.

Clifford loved life, family and friends - from singing and dancing, being part of BBQ cooking teams, keeping up with the Houston Texans and the Astros baseball games, playing golf, canning pickles, collecting Lone Star memorabilia, and spending time at Kelm’s Store and Robert’s Service Station. He was a member of the Grand Lodge Sons of Hermann of Gay Hill and the Cedar Hill Shooting Club.

Clifford is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Johnnie Whiddon; nieces and nephews, Angie Baker and husband Jim, Janna Haevischer and husband Ryan, Ryan Ladewig and wife Aimee, Luke Ladewig and fiancé Tiffany Reuter, Taylor Hermann and fiancé Spencer Solomon, Nancy Strickland; numerous great nieces, great nephews, other family members; special friend Wayne and Theresa Wellmann, Greg and Jan Pecht; and the Robert’s Service Station Gang.

His grandparents, parents, infant brother Gary Dean Henze, sister Peggy Rybarski and her husband Matt preceded Clifford in death.

The family extends a special “Thank You” to his many friends for their love and support.
