Coleen Rhea Murphey

Coleen Rhea Murphey, age 87, of Brenham, Texas, passed away on March 6, 2026.

Coleen was born in Lawton, Oklahoma, to the late Paul Metcalf and Eva Grace Venture. She spent many years building a life centered around family, faith, and creativity.

On December 3, 1987, she married Jewel William “Dub” Murphy in McAllen, Texas. Their marriage was a meaningful chapter of companionship and partnership in her life.

Coleen worked as a bookkeeper, where she was known for her diligence, reliability, and strong work ethic. Outside of her professional life, she enjoyed expressing her creativity through crafts, quilting, and jewelry making, hobbies that brought her both joy and a sense of artistry.

She was also a faithful member of the Methodist Church, where her faith and community were important parts of her life.

Coleen will be remembered for her quiet strength, creativity, and the care she showed to those around her. She leaves behind many who will cherish her memory.

Her life was a reminder of the beauty found in simple joys, faith, and dedication to family and community. She wanted to be remembered as someone who was always willing to help anyone.

Coleen is survived by her children Dwight and Karen Dorsey, Yvonne and Terry Jackson, Larry and Cheryl Dorsey, Cheri and Ted Snelling, and Matt Murphey; grandchildren Aaron Moore, Sarah Moore and finance Alex Wallen.

Coleen is preceded in death by her parents and husband J.W. “Dub” Murphy.
