Daniel R. Koenig

Daniel R. Koenig, 76, of Brenham passed away Monday, May 17, 2010 in a Houston hospital.

Daniel was born July 19, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio to Ernest and Marie (Altwegg) Koenig. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and after the war he entered the Reserves. He was married to Jolene (Keen) Koenig. Dan retired after being employed by Exxon Oil Company as a machinist. He was a member of Brenham’s First Baptist Church.

Survived by his loving family including wife Jolene Koenig; sons and daughters-in-law Kenneth and Sherry Koenig, Anthony and Michele Koenig, James and Rosa Hudspeth, Daniel Earl and Eloise Hudspeth; daughters and sons-in-law Cynthia and Mark McCafferty, Angela and Mike Summers, Geneva and Larry Kayser; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law Walter and Delores Koenig, Glen and Jeanette Koenig; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the Koenig family will be from 6-8 pm, Wednesday, May 19, 2010 in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services are 2 pm, Thursday, May 20, 2010 in Brenham’s First Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Ponder officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
