Danny William Dickschat

Danny William Dickschat, 64, died November 11, 2014 in Panama. Danny was born December 21, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas, the son of William H. and Doris Schwartz Dickschat. His grandparents were Frank and Emma Bohne Dickschat and Martin and Ella Rippenhagen Schwartz.

Danny will lie in state Wednesday, December 31 from 2-7 p.m. and Friday, January 2 from 7-10 a.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel. There will be a private family burial at Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday, January 2, from 1 –2 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

He was baptized March 26, 1950 at Friedens UCC of Washington, Texas and confirmed there in 1963.

He attended grade school in Washington, Texas and high school in Brenham, Texas. Danny worked as a mechanic prior to joining the United States Merchant Marines. During his service as a mariner in the Merchant Marines, he visited over 40 foreign countries.

Although he was disabled after a motorcycle accident, he never slowed down. He continued to live life to the fullest. He returned to Brenham to care for family land and in the last years was caregiver for his mother.

He had many friends and always had a smile for them.

After his mother’s death in 2013, he decided to fulfill his dream of moving to another country and living the “island life”. He moved to Panama in September 2014.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. He is survived by one aunt and numerous cousins and friends.

Memorials may be given to a charity of choice.
