Obituary

Dario G. Talamantes, Jr. 74 passed away May 20, 2019 at his Brenham home with family by his side.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 23, from 6-8 p.m. and funeral services held Friday, May 24 at 10 a.m. both held at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in Masonic Cemetery, Chappell Hill with military honors.

He was born March 14, 1945 in Floresville, Texas to Dario and Domiga (Guzman) Talamantes. He was baptized April 4, 1947 in Houston.

At age 17, Dario joined the Navy. Then in 1965, he enlisted in the Army and became a paratrooper. He served in Vietnam and received two Bronze Stars.

On March 28, 1978, Dario married Ginny Cardenas in Bay City, Texas. In 1989, the family moved to Brenham. Dario worked for ExxonMobil Inc. From there he retired on May 10, 2007.

Dario was a hard worker. Despite his work related accident and disability, he could still get the job done and was helpful and giving. Dario was playful and fun loving with children. He walked every morning at Hohlt Park. He loved country living and watching Westerns. Dario was a proud veteran and member of American Legion Buddy Wright Post 48.

He was preceded in death by parents, granddaughter Taylor Maynard, and siblings Joe Talamantes, Samuel Talamantes, Oralia Talamantes.

Surviving family includes: wife, Ginny Talamantes; daughters, Vicki Herzog and husband Scott, Tracy Talamantes, Sandy McGill; grandchildren, Eric Herzog, Lauren Herzog, Dario Talamantes, Andrew McGill, Carmen Maynard; siblings and spouses, Rosie Padilla, Josefine Morris, Juanita Juarez, Mary Arriazola, Lilly and Andrew Ortiz,David and Cecilia Talamantez, Johnny and Jackie Talamantes, Frances and James Tilton, Pauline Talamantes and partner Greg Balanos, Jimmy and Sonia Talamantes.

Pallbearers will be Keith McGill, Kyle Guttridge, Drew Talamantes, Angel Santana, Stephen Malone and Greg Bolanos.

Memorials are requested to Hospice Brazos Valley or American Legion Buddy Wright Post 48.
