Obituary

David G. Byers of Brenham, Texas, passed away on January 17, 2012 at the age of 71. He was born December 15, 1940, in Sand Point, Idaho, son of George and Florence Byers. He attended California Polytechnic State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. Afterwards, he worked for Boyle Engineering of California and later with the County of Los Angeles as a Process Control Engineer. Subsequently, he moved to Houston, Texas, where he was employed by Aramco Services Company, as an Environmental Engineer, before retiring in 1998. Throughout his long career, Dave maintained his standing as a Registered Professional Engineer.

Dave met and married the love of his life, Theresa Galvan, in July, 1983. He and Theresa enjoyed many activities together, including motorcycle touring, playing cards and dominos. They moved to Brenham, TX and became members of the Brenham’s Top Cat Dance Club, where they enjoyed dancing with their numerous friends and neighbors. He was president of the Top Cat Dance Club for 2011. Dave also enjoyed target shooting, hunting, and singing while playing his guitar.

Dave was preceded in death by his infant son Danny, his brother Douglas and his mother and father. Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Theresa, his sisters, Joanne and Phyllis, his two daughters by previous marriage, Barbara Malcom and Tamara Rook, his three grandchildren, Randi, Dea, and Karis and his two great grandchildren, Peyton and Nehemyha. He will also be missed by numerous other family members and friends, all of whom will sorely miss his warm company, his easy smile, and his friendly laugh.

A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 PM, Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Brenham Memorial Chapel.
