Obituary

David Thomas DeLeon, Sr., 70, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2020 in his home after a long battle with multiple illnesses. His loving wife of 47 years, Donna, was by his side.

The second of four sons, he was born on November 11, 1950 to Dolores and Armando DeLeon in Edinburg, TX. He spent several years in The Valley before moving to Corpus Christi with his parents and older brother. David grew up in Corpus Christi with a passion for baseball. He spent many years loving the game and passed that love onto each of his children. He graduated from Mary Carrol High School in 1968. He later attended Texas A & I University and The University of Texas. In 1972, he met his wife, Donna, on a blind date. They were married exactly one year later on May 26, 1973. They were blessed with five fantastic children or as he called them, “Beaner Schnitzels". David coached teams for both of his son’s at OSO Pony Baseball League, creating many lasting memories. Everyone loved “Coach".

David had a huge personality and was always the life of the party. A natural jokester, laughter brought the greatest joy in his everyday life. He loved fishing and golfing. A lifelong Orangeblood, he loved his Longhorns, and even created his signature “Hook ‘Em” handshake.

David had an entrepreneurial spirit. A salesman like no other. His career began managing the Card & Quill , Final Touch and O’Gosh before he and Donna followed their dreams and opened their family business, PARTY HARTY. For 10 years, the family put their blood, sweat and tears into “The Store”. It was successful and exciting and the memories and friends made along the way will never be forgotten.

He and Donna retired from other careers in 2014 and moved to Brenham to be close to her family and enjoy the country life. He enjoyed mowing grass on his Kubota and making friends with all of the animals. He had a great passion for all of his dogs but especially his Kallie Girl.

He is preceded in death by his parents Dolores and Armando DeLeon, in-laws Milton and Elvera Janner, brother-in-law Jeffrey Janner, niece Dana Janner, nephew Joel Janner, great nephew Lyndon Palmer and best “Podnah”, Scott Roberts.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna Kay (Janner) DeLeon, children Kristin Limke (Bryan), Kalen Perez (Ruben), David DeLeon, Jr. (Shanda), Kiffen Glass (Bill) and Dustin DeLeon (Gabi). Surviving grandchildren are Rylin, Bryson, Ryder, Carter, Savanah, Zachary, Braxton, Harper, Hollis, Quinn and step-grandchildren, Joey, Kelly, Matthew and Jenna. He is also survived by his brothers, Sonny DeLeon, Robby DeLeon (Kay) and John DeLeon (Molly), brothers-in-law and sisters in-law Connie Rohde (Danney), Doyle Janner (Daphne), Meg Janner and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Family would like to thank everyone for all their prayers and concern over the years. A special thank you to St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill for their continued prayers for more than 5 years. Many thanks to Traditions Health, especially his Hospice nurse P.J., for their loving care throughout his final days.

David’s wishes were to be cremated because caskets do not come with air conditioning or fans.

Visitation for Brenham residents will be at Brenham Memorial Chapel on Sunday, December 6, 2020, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. with family present from 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

A final memorial service will be held in Corpus Christi on Friday, December 18, 2020 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 737 St. Pius Dr., Corpus Christi, TX 78412 at 3 p.m. Following the service, the family would like you join them in celebrating and remembering David’s life. Location will be announced at the service.
