Viewing at Brenham Memorial Chapel will be Thursday, October 11th from 6-8 p.m. and Friday, October 12th from 8 a.m. until noon.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 12th at 3 p.m. in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill with Pastor Skip Stutts officiating.

Dennis Wayne Todd was born November 15, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri to John William Todd, II and Delma (Witte) Todd. He was a graduate of Harrisonville High School in Missouri. In 1965, Dennis enlisted into the U.S. Army. Here he worked in technology with the Hercules missile system. He then attended Chattanooga Technical Community College. On June 7, 1972, Dennis married the love of his life Louise Williams in Rossville, Georgia. In Georgia, he was employed as a textile mill supervisor for six years. In 1978, the family moved to Texas. He began work for an oil seismograph company. Later, he was self-employed and was a Farm Bureau agent. In 1996, Dennis did mounted security at The Woodlands Mall. He entered the police academy in 2000. He worked security at the Washington County Court House and currently at the Austin County Court House.

Dennis' skills and and interests were diverse. While in Georgia, he owned a motorcycle shop and was involved with his sons in motorcycle racing. He loved horses and was challenged to break them. He was a skilled carpenter. Community and club involvement included: Boy Scouts of America Scoutmaster; American Legion Buddy Wright Post 48 where he served as chaplain.

Dennis Todd proudly wore the white lambskin apron of a mason. Brother Todd was a mason for thirty years. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Masonic Lodge in Waller, Texas, the Graham Masonic Lodge in Brenham, Texas, the Austin Valley Scottish Rite in Austin, Texas, and the Star of the Republic Scottish Rite Club in Caldwell, Texas. He was a Past Master of Graham Lodge and was active in masonry in Texas. His dedication and work will always be remembered by his Masonic brothers. Upon his name in masonry rested many laurel leaves of victory. But more than that, the mystic order of masonry rested upon his honored shoulders during his lifetime here until his spirit passed into the gates of heaven. And at last when his weary feet came to the end of his journey on earth and from his grasp dropped forever the working tools of a mason and his soul, freed from earthly bounds, and standing before the Great White Thrown, there he heard his final Masonic plaudit “Well done thou good and faithful servant. Enter now into the joy of the Lord.”
