Donald Alan Ricks

Donald Alan Ricks, age 67, of Brenham, Texas, passed away on October 31, 2025.

Born on March 11, 1958, in Paducah, Kentucky, Don was the son of Jesse and Lorella (Kirks) Ricks, Jr. He was raised in the Methodist faith and graduated from Christian County High School in 1976. Don went on to earn his BA in Broadcast Communications from DePauw University in Indiana in 1980.

Following his graduation, Don began a long and successful career in sales, a profession that brought him to Texas, where he would eventually make his home. For over 45 years, he worked in the field he loved, most recently as a salesman with Novolex.

Don was a humble, private man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was a devoted fan of Kentucky Wildcats basketball and enjoyed cheering on the Houston Texans, often with a glass of Jim Beam in hand. Above all, his greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren, who brought endless pride and happiness to his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Lorella Ricks, and his sister-in-law, Sheila Ricks.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Jake and Laura Ricks, and Mary and Blake Berglund; grandchildren, Ava, Maddox, Savannah, and Collette Ricks; his brother, Michael Ricks; his sister, Anita Bernardo; and his three ridgerunning nephews, Jonathan Ricks, Alex Bernardo, and Ross Bernardo.

A celebration of Donald’s life will be held at a later date.
