Donald Goodwin

Donald Wood Goodwin, age 92, peacefully passed away early Friday morning, December 1, 2017.

Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, December 3 in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 4 in Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville with Pastor Sue Beall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Don was born in Navasota, Texas to Robert Edward and Clara Elnora (McConnell) Goodwin. Don proudly served our country in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Region. He was employed at Uncle Ben’s Rice as a rice buyer. On November 28, 1947 he was united in marriage to Jessie Fay Wright. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville, founding member and more recent an honorary member of the Bluebonnet Opry, and James F. Dillon Post #7104 of the V.F.W.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Fay Goodwin; proud son and daughter-in-law Glen and Theresa Goodwin; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be Ray Hunt, Alan Dreyer, Mark Lavendar, Jon Westerfeld, Wade Wellmann and Michael Flynn. Honorary pallbearers will be Herman Koehn, Arnold “Bubba” Dreyer, Gene Bothe and Raymond Walker.

Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville.
