Doris Bruedigan, 82 of Brenham, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 13 from 5-7 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 14 at 10 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Matthew Jacobs officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Doris Jean Kautz was born December 10, 1936 in Frelsburg, Texas to Adolph Johannes and Lina (Minssen) Kautz. She was baptized March 14, 1937 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Frelsburg and also confirmed there. She attended Boggy Branch School. On December 29, 1957, she married Clarence Otto Boeker at Trinity Lutheran Church. The couple moved to Brenham, where she stayed in the home to care for Clarence’s mother.

In 1971, Clarence died in an accident and Doris was left a widow with three young sons. She went to work outside the home at Nat’s Tiny Tots, Dairy Queen, J.C. Penney’s, in the bakery at Stanley’s, HEB and Walmart where she was able to use her talent of cake decorating.

She met Monroe Maynard Bruedigan through a mutual friend at a private dance. They were married June 28, 1975 and enjoyed traveling, playing 42, dancing and spending time at her cousin’s deer camp.

Her family remembers how she loved to sew, making many Halloween costumes for her grandkids and anything else they may need. She could be found in her garden or tending to all the plants she had around the house, which brought her so much joy. In addition to being an excellent seamstress, Doris would make cakes for any family occasion, such as birthdays, baptisms, confirmations or graduations. Family was very important to Doris and she loved to host holidays in her home with everyone there.
