Dorothy M. Allen

Dorothy Mildred (Schneider) Allen was born January 10, 1928 in Neodesha, Kansas to Mildred Marie (Hopkins) Schneider and Gus Schneider. She passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009, at her home in Brenham, Texas.

Dorothy was married to Joe H. Allen of Neodesha on August 31, 1945, in Independence, Kansas. The couple had four children. The family lived in the Neodesha area for many years, much of that time on a small farm near the Arco plant north of Neodesha. In 1969, they relocated to Alvin, Texas, where they made their home in Hillcrest Village until moving to Brenham, Texas, in 2003.

Dorothy devoted her life to the care and nurture of her family. She was a wonderful cook and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed needlework and collecting a variety of objects.

She is survived by: her husband of 63 years, Joe Alllen; her children, Cathy and husband Troy of Kansas City, Kansas, Charles and wife Joanne and Clay and wife Bonnie all of Houston, Texas, and Calvin and wife Kaisi of Brenham, Texas; five grandchildren, Skye Allen of Brenham, Lillian and Madison Allen of Houston, Aaron Hodges and Patricia of San Francisco, CA and Nicole Hodges and Calvin Santini of Kansas City, MO; one great grandchild, Kya Santini of Kansas City, MO. She is also survived by her brother Harold Schneider and his wife Bonnie of Wichita, Kansas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Donald Gus Schneider, and her sisters Peggy Forrester and Corine Archibald.
