A thank you:
Although I may have been the primary caretaker for mom I just want to make it clear that this was a team effort. I want to thank WIlliam for keeping one eye and ear open every night as you slept each night and for enduring all the things you’ve gone through to help support the family over the last few years. I want to thank Carol for being there for late-night talks and texts, for helping me do the not so fun stuff when I wasn’t able to be there, and for being my sister that I never got to have; Robert and Johnnie for transporting Mom and sitting with her when I couldn’t, and for tolerating my rants at times.

Thanks go to my husband, Eric for taking up some of the mom duties at home, and my young men (Garrett, Nolan, and Mitchell) for understanding when I missed some of your big events and for stepping up to the plate and doing what you needed to do when you needed.

Heartfelt thanks also go to David for coming by and checking on your cousin DODO and giving us some comic relief; to Virginia and Mattie for faithfully dropping by to check on Mom and keep her in the loop of what was going on around town, running errands for her, and providing some well timed and delicious meals!! We all appreciated that!!!

To my coworkers in Cy-Fair ISD, I thank you for taking up my slack and my workload which allowed me to spend these last few months caring full time for my mom and making great memories. I am grateful for your SUPER POWERS and for everything you do to make a difference in the lives of our children.

Thanks go out to the Tx Home Health nurses, therapists, and staff and the Hospice team whom helped me ensure Mom had the highest level of care she could receive and to provide a little friendship on the side.

And to all our family, friends and our church community for the continued prayers and words of kindness and support. Without these I’m not sure how we could have managed.

And most importantly thank you to our Saviour Lord Jesus Christ for his great sacrifice which allows us to be with Him, our Father, in Heaven for a joyous eternity by accepting him into our heart. Although Mom had sacrificed a lot in her lifetime, nothing compares to Jesus’ sacrifice for her and all of us!

Each of you have played a part in helping my mother make a peaceful journey from this realm to her new home, and Mom and I were truly blessed to have you on our team. Thanks once again to all of you!

So, Dorothy, or Mom, or Mamaw, or DoDo— until we see you again—-Polka On!

Peace, Joy, and Love to all,
~Terri
